Big News! Tonight we meet our MOE (Metropolitan Office of Education) supervisor and find out where we will be placed. That means that tomorrow we move to Busan. That also means that we will be out of contact for a while.
In Korea, to be able to sign up for a phone, Internet, or a bank account, you must have your Alien Registration Card (ARC). The ARC takes 3-4 weeks to process and receive. We will be applying for ours sometime next week probably.
Unfortunately for us (and you) it means no Internet for about a month. Yes, sadness.
There is a possibility that we could get Internet sooner if our school buys it for us, but that depends on each school and probably won't happen.
Just because we won't have email at our house doesn't mean we don't still appreciate emails in our inbox when we get back! Please keep sending notes and encouragement for us. We are starting to get a little homesick.
As an update on some things that have been happening.....
Today we prepared and delivered a mock teaching lesson. It was a lot of pressure, but I think having one lesson under our belts will help when we start teaching (maybe Friday). In general, the whole process was very stressful for John and I. Please be praying that God would teach us how to manage the stress that we receive at school and live patiently with each other.
We also had a surprise in our housing arrangements. Two days ago we received an email from our MOE asking if we would be willing to take a single apartment (intended for one person) and they would pay us a stipend for the rest of the amount (about 400,000 KW). Although the extra money would be great, the space can be VERY small. We did accept unsuccessfully trying to find out the dimensions of the apartment. (The other alternative would be to stay in a motel for the next two weeks.... not really a great option). A couple did live in the apartment last year, so we are hoping that it will work out ok. PRAY! We move in tomorrow.
Other than that, everything is going well. We miss everyone very much!
